Job description

This position is responsible for providing project management of lighting and mechanical retrofits for large commercial industrial customers based in the New York/New Jersey/Long Island region. The Project Manager will work closely with subcontractors, manufacturers and distributors to ensure high customer satisfaction in identification and installation of turnkey retrofit and energy efficiency projects.

The Project Manager will be responsible for audits of facilities, creation of scopes of work that will be used in sales proposals, coordination and management of all subcontractors and vendors during project implementation and working directly with utility personnel in order to receive incentive money for projects.


  • Perform detailed lighting and/or mechanical system audits
  • Create and revise project scopes to conform to ROI and Payback criteria that will meet client, utility and sales requirements
  • Work with utility on all facets of ensuring project conforms and fully qualifies for incentives
  • Use a detail-oriented approach to efficiently manage projects to be on-time and on-budget
  • Ensure projects meets profitability metrics including negotiating material and labor components
  • Display ability to identify comprehensive projects and bring in necessary resources to provide a comprehensive project, as warranted
  • Work with outside and inside sales in a team environment to create value for customers
  • Effectively coordinate with customers to ensure projects are completed effectively


  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 2-4 years prior Project Management and lighting audit experience necessary
  • Experience working with utility programs (ConEd as primary)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the lighting supply chain process, or have similar experience within construction-specific distribution
  • General knowledge of electrical contracting, lighting design, distribution and construction processes
  • Ability to multi-task in a high volume fast paced work environment with very tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required
  • Possess valid state motor vehicle license and possess safe driving record as required by company s insurance carrier
  • Able to pass State and Federal security screening
  • Out of state travel will be required (estimated to be 30%)
  • Confident and coachable
  • Displays passion for learning and brings new ideas to the table that benefits peers and clients
  • CEM certification a plus
