The Project MP will create and maintain relationships with all the
zone personnel. They will be a resource for their zone organization
to: understand complex facility issues, help indicate options and
guide decisions for completing work, and provide back up for the ZFMs
and other Maintenance Planners. They will assist the ZFMs in managing
the zone in concert with the other zones.

What you will do:
The Project Maintenance Planner (MP) is a steward and advocate for the
built environment, and is charged with leveraging the University s
resources in support of the teaching, research and outreach mission.
The position is required to work with a myriad of constituents to
understand facility deficiencies, and manage a process that vets out
the timing, options and costs to spend resources effectively.
This MP is a resource and leader for facilitating intake, scoping and
planning for project execution to be performed by internal zone trades
staff. Utilize trades knowledge and construction background to
provide estimating or rough order of magnitude cost expectations for
formal and informal unit partner requests. Will perform all permit
applications and close outs. May act in construction manager/project
manager capacity as necessary and appropriate. The MP will work
collaboratively with other MP s, ZFMs, trade staff, and unit
partners on the identification and efficient execution of work.
Maintenance Planners (MP) will understand facilities needs across all
areas of the campus and help allocate resources within the following
priority guidelines: a. Life safety, b. Intellectual property,
including research support, c. Facilities degradation, and d.
Convenience and aesthetics. This may require initiative and
creativity to solve problems, working with guidance from the Zone
Facilities Director. The MP will engage and leverage other resources
on campus (like Facilities Engineering and Risk Management) to assist
in their troubleshooting and planning effort.
The MP will offer subject matter expert feedback for and assist or
perform assessments to document the needs of buildings, identify
current deficiencies, and predict/plan for future deficiencies, under
the leadership of the Zone Facilities Director. They will insure
consistency of this process throughout all areas of campus; and
effectively communicate to stakeholders basis for decisions made.

What we need:
For this role we need someone with an Associates degree or other
formal training program, at least three years experience in a
University or Institutional Facilities Management environment, or
equivalent combination of education and experience in Facilities
Management or Construction Technology or allied field. Individual must
have an overall understanding of general construction techniques and
developed maturity in decision-making process and interaction with
people in a team environment. Must demonstrate excellent oral and
written communication skills. Ability to work independently and to
demonstrate initiative to develop and implement work processes and
procedures. Must be able to navigate through ambiguous situations.
Must be extremely organized and have the ability to manage multiple
tasks with priorities that are often in conflict. Experience with
spreadsheet, database and project software required. Must have and
maintain a valid driver s license; may be required to operate a
motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from
job sites.

Prior experience in managing the design and construction of projects;
ideally in a higher education environment.
